Hotel è un progetto di residenza all’interno di un
Castello che aprirà 8 delle sue stanze a otto artisti appartenenti alla scena
giovane dell’arte italiana.
Prima di loro questi spazi hanno ospitato artisti di
fama internazionale: Julian Opie, Charles Ray, Raimond Pettibon, Silvie Fleury,
Candida Hofer, Gordon Matta Clark, Maurizio Cattelan, Alighiero Boetti e Aldo
Mondino, che per primo ha occupato il Castello su invito dell’amico Franz
Paludetto.
In linea con la storia degli anni ottanta e novanta
che ha reso il Castello di Rivara un punto di riferimento per l’arte
internazionale, i nuovi artisti sono chiamati oggi a rioccupare quelle stanze
con installazioni e interventi site specific, video, fotografie, performance a
seconda del loro linguaggio e con lavori progettati appositamente per questo
spazio.
Gli artisti hanno trascorso una notte e un giorno nel
Castello così come sarà invitato a fare il pubblico.
Una parte del Castello di Rivara diventerà un vero e
proprio Hotel, dove gli ospiti avranno la possibilità di dormire nelle camere
realizzate dagli artisti vivendo un rapporto intimo e personale con l’opera.
Con la complicità del pubblico si metterà in moto un
meccanismo di partecipazione e interazione tra lo spazio, l’artista, l’opera
d’arte e il pubblico stesso.

Hotel is a in-residence project hosted into a Castle that will
open eight of its rooms to eight young artists taken from contemporary Italian
art scene.
Before them, these spaces have hosted international
artists: Julian Opie, Ray Charles, Raymond Pettibon, Silvie Fleury, Candida
Hofer, Gordon Matta Clark, Maurizio Cattelan, Alighiero&Boetti and Aldo
Mondino, who first occupied the Castle at the invitation of his friend Franz
Paludetto.
In keeping with the history of the Eighties and
Nineties that made the Castello di Rivara a point of reference for
international art, new artists are called today to re-occupy those rooms with
installations and site-specific interventions (video, photography, performance)
depending on their language and work specifically designed for this space.
Artists have spent a night and a day in the Castle as
well as the public will be invited to do.
A part of the Castello di Rivara become a real Hotel,
where guests will have the opportunity to sleep in the rooms created by artists
and to live in a intimate and personal relationship with the art work.
With the complicity of the public the project will
move a mechanism of participation and interaction between the space and the
artist, the artwork and the audience itself.
